Lego Room: How to Create Lego Bedroom Decor for Boys
73
Build Your Own Room
Many boys will spend hours playing with Legos, and would love to have a Lego bedroom. Designing a Lego room with a child is a wonderful way to include their ideas and favorite Lego themes into the room (many boys love Star Wars Legos or Harry Potter Legos).
Wall art and wall decor is easy when creating a Lego room: the walls can be decorated with decals, Lego mosaics, or even Lego baseplates! Lego mosaic kits can be purchased online and are easily adhered to the wall with velcro. Lego baseplates can be adhered to a wall and will create a very interactive Lego bedroom!
Adhere Lego base plates to the wall with velcro, with mounting tabs (marketed by the 3M corporation), or with adhesive tape. Adhesives come in varying strengths and the permanent type of adhesive may damage paint layers on the wall.
For a younger child's room, try using Duplo base plates instead of Lego base plates: the larger bricks are easier for small hands to handle. In addition, the base plates can be purchased in several colors to give a checkerboard effect to the walls of the Lego room.
DIY Lego Table, By Anna White
DIY Lego Table
Anna White (who runs the website Knock Off Wood) offers a tutorial on how to make a Lego table that blends in with traditional living room furniture. This Lego table is the best I have seen, though you must build it yourself. The table top appears to be a typical flat surface, but the top panels can be flipped over to reveal Lego mats adhered on the other side. The table also has two separate storage bins - you can store Legos on one side, and trains on the other. Of course, in our house, it would be Legos on both sides!
Light Up the Lego Room
A Lego Bedroom needs good lighting, and there are several Lego lighting options available. The Lego brick light is mountable on any wall surface and turns on with a simple push of the hand. The Lego lantern offers portable lighting in the shape of a Lego man. A Lego flashlight makes cute Lego bedroom decor, and is useful for power outages (a bedroom safety must-have). A bedside lamp in with transparent Lego-like bricks will decorate the top of a nightstand and provide the Lego room with appropriately themed lighting. No matter which light is chosen, the result will be a very bright and adorable Lego room!
Completing the Look
Complete the Lego room with curtains, a boom box, and clock. These whimsical Lego room decor items will add the finishing touch to the bedroom, and little boys will be thrilled with the final result.
Furniture can be modified to look like Lego bricks by adhering round slices from a styrofoam tube to the sides of nightstands, dressers, and more. Paint each furniture piece in a bold, primary color to make the piece of furniture look like a large Lego brick.
You can also adhere round disks to the walls to create the look of Lego blocks, then paint large rectangles of bright colors around the disks. This will simulate the look of Lego bricks on the walls, and looks really nice in a boy's bedroom.

All 3 of my kiddos LOVE legos. They would be in heaven in a Lego bedroom! I never thought of this kind of thing (and I'm pretty creative, usually)!
