Future Disney Pixar Films: Get the Popcorn Ready!
Kids love Pixar, and so do the parents who bring them to the theater. Here is a sneak peak at Disney Pixar films coming out in the next few years:
Brave
Release date: June 15, 2012
Previously titled "The Bear and the Bow," Brave is the story of a royal daughter who would rather embark on a career as an archer. Mérida (voiced by Reese Witherspoon) will struggle with her fate as a royal daughter and the desires of her heart, unintentionally causing a maelstrom of dark magic to strike her beloved home. Brave will be shown with a Pixar short film titled "La Luna."
Monsters University
Release date: November 2, 2012
Monsters, Inc 2 is not a sequel, but a prequel to the original film. What is Monster College like? Find out as this film explores Mike and Sully during their college days at Monstropolis' University of Fear. As it turns out, Mike and Sully were not always the best of friends!
Frozen (Not Pixar, but Worth a Mention)
Release date: November 27, 2013.
It is not clear if this movie will be Pixar or a traditionally animated feature. This film will be released in 3D. Frozen will be based on Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tale The Snow Queen. This film was originally destined to be a hand-drawn animated film, but it may be converted to a computer generated cartoon, as Disney's Tangled was a big success. While this film is not a Pixar film, it is mentioned here because it is being released on the date originally scheduled for the Pixar Dinosaur movie.
The Good Dinosaur
Release date: May 30, 2014.
Originally scheduled for release on November 27, 2013, the Dinosaur movie has been pushed back to May 30, 2014.
A dinosaur themed movie is due out for the holiday season in 2014. This entirely original Pixar film is based on the following idea (presented at the D23 convention in Anaheim, California):
"What if that life-changing asteroid missed Earth? Director Bob Peterson’s hilarious tale depicts a world where dinosaurs never went extinct."
Untitled Pixar Feature Film "Inside the Mind"
Release date: June 19, 2015.
A second Pixar film has been announced with a release date of June 19, 2015. The general concept appears to revolve around the world that exists inside a young girl's mind. Her emotions will be represented by different characters, and will be unlike any Pixar movie created thus far. The film is headed up by Pete Docter, who has a teenage daughter named Elle.
Rumor: Dia de los Muertos Film
Release date: 2015
Director Lee Unkrich (who directed Finding Nemo, Toy Story 3, and Monsters, Inc.) will direct this film, which will probably have a release-date near Halloween. This film will be an interesting take on the traditional Mexican holiday known as The Day of the Dead.
Rumor: Toy Story 4
In an interview with BBC, Tom Hanks stated "I think there will be [Toy Story 4], yeah. Yeah, yeah. I think they’re working on it now," he told interviewer Tim Muffett. "There you go." In a second interview with CNN's showbiz Tonight, Hanks stated, "I understand it's happening and if it is, I hope they'll hire me." The Internet Movie Database (IMDB) lists Toy Story 4 with a 2015 release date.
